An early drive brought us to Umtanum Recreation Area along the Yakima River. We couldn't ask for a better day to hike up the Umtanum Ridge.
We had sunshine and cool breeze from the beginning to the end. The desert like climate here at Yakima Canyon make us feel we just went to a tropic
vacation from the cold-wet Seattle.
We followed the main trail all the way to the top. You can see on the ridge miles and miles away. We then wandered along the ridge line, and
decided to just walk through the landscape down the slopes. We were like wild horses on the hills following no trails.
And at the end, we enjoyed a little dip in the Yakima River.
Crossing Yakima River
ok ...kiddo, no trepassing!
Going up a dry creek, ...notice there is not a single tree!
Oh ! We got one!
WhaHHHH ... (a deer skull)
Spring is a little late this season ...
Well, .. can't really see the canyone behind me.
Here it is ...
Josh said, "hmmm, are we lost ?"
The refugees are coming .....
While everyone was having some rest, ... I took this pic of Richard taking a picture.
We were like wild horses wandering on the hillside, following no trails.. ..
Leave me alone ....
I might as well have a nap here ... zzzZZZZ ...
Hey .. don't you forget about me!
There is always another life after one dies.
My signature shadow.
This looks like the front cover of a trail book.
Wild wild west .... .
The clouds are just too beautiful floating like a pillow.
Some of the Refugees ...
You can't beat a good nap under a sun after a hike.
