Burnt Forest Around Us
See Trip Plan Below

It was a nice evening when we started driving to Lake Chelan from Vancouver. The evening sky was clear and it was a full moon night. We made a wonderful dinner stop at a Thai Restaurant in Bellingham before we headed out for our long drive.

On the way to Chelan, we drove through Steven Pass via Hwy US-2. The road was dark and it started raining. There were a couple dead deers lying on the road, presumably hit by vehicles. We didn't arrive at the Hotel in Chelan until 12 midnight. The next morning, we had our best "Continental Breakfast" ever at the Best Western.

Hello, is someone there?

We took a ferry from Chelan (south of Lake Chelan) uplake to Prince Creek, where we were going to start our trip. After being dropped out, we immediately noticed that we were on a burnt forest area. There were a fire in 2001 that swept out most part of the forest on the north side of the Lake Chelan.

Look at the Spring around Lake Chelan .... One of the nicest thing we have encountered on this trip are the blooming flowers. Carleton and Christine grabbed the opportunity and the following are the showcases.

We also noticed that there were only a few signs or trailmarkers on this trail. But this "Don't Dilly-Dally" sign was everywhere. You probably wonder, "Why do they use 'Dilly-dally' ? Can they use other plain English ?"

It was snowing very hard as we climbed in elevation. The wet snow really stuck on our jackets and backpacks, making every inch soak.
