We planned to do the Big Beaver and Little Beaver Loop. However, the trail report did not give us a good indication that Little Beaver was ready. We decided just to get on Big Beaver and back. Started at the tip of Ross Lake, we hiked through 6 miles of lushy green forest on the west bank.

We rested at the Big Beaver Camp for while before we moved on to 39 mile camp. Hiking up the Big Beaver Creek, we saw some of the biggest old white cedars. The forest was like waking up from the long winter. It was very shady to block our the sun, but at the same time, it also became a mosquito heaven.

We enjoyed a night at the 39 mile camp. We met the trail crew and learned that the trail was still very rugged past 39 mile camp. By 7:30am in the following morning, we heard the crew chain-sawing and started clearing on the trail. We decided not to continue to Luna, but rather heading back to Big Beaver Camp, and enjoyed a day of sunbathing on the lake.

Mosquitoes at Big Beaver Camp wasn't that bad. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing afternoon under the sun on the water. Me and Robert also enjoyed 2 hours of stars watching.
