Me and my family went to Tung Ping Chau (Tung Ping Island) Marine Park. It is one of the few Marine Parks in Hong Kong that are listed
as a Protection Area. Only authorised motorized boats are allowed to dock at the pier.
Tung Ping Island is a very small island, the round-the-island trail is only 6km long. We passed through the village general store and went on to
the shore. It was not disappointing as soon as we saw different types of corals and sedimentary rocks on the beach. As we walked past certain
sections of the trail, we saw different types of rock formations.
On the way to Tung Ping Island, we saw the subsidiary dam of Plover Cover Reservoir.
Riding this 300-people ferry.
Fire Hydrant on the ferry.
This is Tung Ping Island (from about 1km).
Behind me is Tung Ping Island (from about 500m).
Dead Corals on the beach!
More corals on the beach.
Dead tortoise on the beach.
Layers of Sedimentary rocks.
One of the old house structure on the island.
Hiking on these sedimentary rocks.
Different layers exposed from the sea.
We found quite a lot blueberries on the island.
Shoreline at Tung Ping Island consists mostly of sedimentary rock. But from far, you can see Mainland China where sedimentary rocks cannot be found.
Cresent Beach.
Wow, look at how small we were.
This is one of the big splits of the island.
My family .....
The root of this tree grew sidewise into the layers.
Yes, ....some parts of the round-island trail will get wet.
It is quite an amazing island.
We were jumping back and forth on these layers.
We were at Lan Kwo Shui beach, which means "Difficult to cross" in Chinese.
Trail map along the island is the most common route.
Kang Lau Shek, which means "Watch Tower Rock" in Chinese.
All sort of corals on the beach.
On top of "Kang Lau Shek", how do I get up there ?
Fallen houses on the beach.
Complete the round-the-island trail.
The ferry pier ....
We visited the only general store on the island. They sell everything from bathing suit to big beach umbrella.
