Finally after talking about to get on this trail for years, we did it. Three of us suited up our packs and drove to Gold River on Vancouver Island. It was a dangerous windy road, and thanked to the coffee that kept all of us alive.

We jumped on a 4-seat float plane, and began our journey to the west tip of Nootka Island. Out pilot was very informative, as we predicted, he did this flight talk too many times to carry hikers to the trailhead. We saw 2 black bears while we were still in the air. We knew this trip worthed the bucks.

The pilot dropped us off in a lagoon, naturally protected by the waves from the Pacific Ocean. We then unwillingly put on our hiking boots to get to our first camp. It was an old beautiful rain forest with lots of moss on cedar trees. The smell from the cedar was, I had to say, very soothing.

In the next three days, we went through 25 km on sandy beaches, pebble beaches, rocky beaches, muddy beaches. We were rewarded with awesome weather so far, not a singledrop of rain. We hiked in early morning, and napped in the afternoon as the afternoon sun was very unforgiving. Don't try it, it was brutal. We had to stop every other 20 mins to get into the shade and we gave up after 2 hours in the mighty sun.

What else can I say here ?

The last 3 days of this trip will take us into the headlands. It was acutally an rewarding feature, because we were so sick on walking on beaches. We were protected by the trees from the almighty sun. We even found a camp site within the forest.

We have nothing to do that afternoon, decided to turn ourselves into lumberjacks, but we couldn't even move this piece.

Want some Frisk ? The rain will take a while.

Our trip ended with a long night of heavy rain. Hey but what can I say? We got all the sun we need and we didn't get wet at all. We took another float plane back to Gold River, but the alternate way was to take a ferry called, UChunk. It was so fully booked that it usually requires 3 month reservation.
